The fabulous Panics: A Musical Journey Through Time
In the smoky haze of a dimly lit basement, where the air was thick with anticipation and the walls reverberated with the promise of something extraordinary, The fabulous Panics were born. It was the mid-1960s, a time when music was a revolution, and Kenny, the drummer with a wild spirit, and Greg, the lead guitarist with fingers that danced across the frets, decided to create their own symphony.
Their first practice was a chaotic affair. The room echoed with 52 takes of a song called “The Long Tall Texan.” Each note was a battle cry, each beat a declaration of their passion. They stumbled, they cursed, but they persevered. And when they finally nailed it, the room erupted in applause, and The fabulous Panics were officially on their way.
But The fabulous Panics weren’t content with just two members. They hungered for more, and soon, a motley crew of musicians joined their ranks:
Joe the bassist with fingers like lightning, who anchored their sound.
Mike, the keyboard wizard, whose fingers danced across the keys like a secret language.
Doug, the rhythm guitarist, who strummed with the intensity of a wildfire.
Dan, another bassist, because you can never have too much bass.
Paul, yet another bassist (seriously, they had a thing for bass), who added depth to their melodies.
And then fate intervened. Kenny met Eric, a classically trained pianist, at a pickup baseball game at Columbia Heights High School. They bonded over their love for music, and Kenny knew he had found something special. He invited Eric to join The Panics, and suddenly, their sound blossomed into something magical.
More musicians followed: Steve, the multi-instrumentalist extraordinaire, who played saxophone, clarinet, trumpet, bongos, harmonica, piano, and guitar. His voice soared like a bird in flight.
Lori, the trumpet player, whose notes were like golden sunsets.
And finally, Jim, with his heart-pounding bass, the foundation of their rhythm section.
The fabulous Panics now feature: Lori (Trumpet), Steve (Sax, Clarinet, Harmonica, Percussion and Vocals), Eric (Keyboards), Greg (Lead Guitar and Vocals), Jim (Bass), and Kenny (Drums).
The fabulous Panics became a force to be reckoned with. They played music from every era—the '40s, '50s, '60s, '70s, and '80s. Jazz, country, rock ‘n’ roll—it didn’t matter. They poured their souls into every note, every chord, and their gigs became legendary. They played at assisted living homes, where the residents tapped their canes and sang along. They rocked VFW halls, where veterans raised their glasses in salute. Private parties, public fundraisers—the world was their stage. And today, after over 50 years of making music, The fabulous Panics are still going strong.
Kenny’s dynamic drumming sets the beat, Jim’s bass is the heartbeat of their sound, Steve’s vocals and saxophone pierce the air, Lori’s trumpet adds a touch of magic, Eric’s keyboards weave melodies, and Greg, the lead singer, commands the stage with an energy that defies time.
